About the LivestockTrust System

LivestockTrust was developed by RMS to address the needs of states to fulfill the requirements of both the U.S. Animal Identification Plan (USAIP) and the National Animal Identification System (NAIS).  Originally developed for cattle, the system now supports all species of livestock.  At the same time, the system addresses state and local needs while giving consideration to the privacy and liability concerns of livestock producers.

RMS Research Management Systems USA, Inc., headquartered in Fort Collins, Colorado, operates the LivestockTrust system as a service for participating States and Native American Nations.  We also provide program development & data services, training, project management and implementation services.  The system provides all relevant data warehousing and reporting capabilities for premises registration, tag distribution, animal movement data capture and animal health reporting.  The LivestockTrust product is also being extended to include reporting of animal disease conditions and interface with the USDA Electronic Certificate of Veterinary Inspection system.

The RMS LivestockTrust Livestock Identification & Tracking System is a highly scalable, secure, auditable, internet based repository for individual animal identification and tracking to satisfy the demanding needs for source verification, animal disease management and control requirements at a state and national level.  This multi-species technology provides animal and product traceability, as well as source verification, throughout the supply chain; and has built-in security systems for national and international transfer of data.  LivestockTrust supports all types of animal identification technologies, both physical and biometric, supplied by major vendors.  LivestockTrust forms a foundation for individual animal and animal lot identification and tracking.  RMS' Cattle Data Network products build upon that foundation for value-based marketing and supply-chain management solutions.
